Our Toddler Friendly Advent Calender

Today starts 24 days to Christmas and the start of our Advent Calender! I've been so excited to start this new tradition with the boys! Dominic's a little young, but at 2, it's a great time to start our family traditions!

Here is our Advent Calender. It's a typical calendar. Nothing fancy or expensive. We actually found this at a flea market type store, when we first got engaged. I'm a little obsessed with snowmen, and just couldn't resist this gem.

We kept their advent calender simple and fun! No real gifts, just simple little activities, some planned and some not. Since Dominic can't read yet, I printed off pictures for the different activities we will be doing. This way he can visually see it and get excited!

Here are what some of the cards look like.
*The paper is red, but I couldn't get the camera to focus right.

Here's what's on our list:
Meet our Christmas Elf (doing tonight!)
Decorate the Christmas Tree
8- Open a presents (Christmas books)
Decorate a gingerbread house
Go see Christmas Lights
Family party with Santa
Make a Christmas craft
Church Christmas hayride & pony rides
Christmas party at Grandma's
Stay up late and have a movie night with hot coco and cookies
Pick out a present for the giving basket
Bake and decorate cookies with mommy
Pick a book to read
Go to our Christmas Eve Service at church

These are the "presents" he will be opening. They are actually all Christmas books. Some new, some old, and some from my childhood.

With all the craziness of the holidays, this tradition really puts the focus back on quality time with family. And I'm sure what we do with the advent calender will change with the boys through out the years. Merry Christmas!
