Mommy Tag

What do you wish someone would have told you about pregnancy?
How different two pregnancies could be. Because wow, night and day.

What happened with your labor and delivery?
With my oldest, Dominic, I was due Thanksgiving, had him 4 days later. Long weekend of contractions. His heart rate kept dropping super low and my labor stalled..Emergency C-section was preformed. For Giovanni..Went in the operating room, 20 minutes later there he was! :) LOVE repeat c-sections.

How did you feel when you found out you were pregnant?
With Dominic, I was overwhelmed with so much excited love and thankfulness when I found out. We had been trying for 15months. With Giovanni I was in disbelief, excited, thankful, and completely shocked. It caught us off guard, such an amazing blessing!

How did you tell your husband you were pregnant?
With Dominic I ran out of the bathroom yelling OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD!! Over and over again. With Giovanni, I told Tony, "Do you see a line?!? I think I see a line? Holy crap there's a line! Oh my God, Oh my God!"

How did you feel when you delivered ??
Completely in LOVE and in awe. I cried with Dominic. And completely relieved (I think because it was a long and scary delivery)

How long did it take for you to feel normal again ?
It took at least 5-6 weeks with Dominic and only 3 with Giovanni.

Whats the best thing about being a mommy ?
EVERYTHING. Their smiles, their hugs, the way Giovanni looks at me with those big beautiful blue eyes. That unconditional love they have. Being able to show them new things. Love every minute of it.

What is the most unexpected thing about being a mom?
The lack of sleep you can function off of.

Do you miss being pregnant?
Yes!

How many children do you plan to have and when ?
At the very least 1 more. ; ) We are not planning on trying for one for at least 2 years.

Is it hard to see how fast your child grows ?
It is hard. Going from Newborn clothes to 0-3months or going from a baby to a toddler are the hardest. But it's also so wonderful. Each stage is so much fun!

Feel free to fill it out too!

Giovanni turns 2 Months!

 Happy 2 Months Birthday!

Weight: 11lbs 7oz
Height: 22 3/4in

It's been 2 months since our little guy Giovanni came into our lives. And what an amazing 2 months it's been. He is such a GREAT baby! He is so calm and laid back, just about always. The only time you hear him cry is if he is over tired or has a really dirty diaper. Tony and I joke around, saying that we could hang him upside down and you wouldn't hear a peep out of him. Just a very relaxed personality.

He has grown so much in the last 8 weeks and not just in weight and height. He has really become more alert. He's definitely not a newborn anymore.(oh how fast they grow!) He smiles all the time. The moment someone starts talking, he'll look to find you and once he lock eyes on you his eyes and whole face lights up and a big old smile is sure to follow. And once in a while you'll get a little chuckle out of him.

BIG MILESTONES:
*Around 6 weeks he discovered his hands. And boy does he get excited sucking on them!

*At 7 weeks to the day (my birthday) he started sleeping completely through the night! From 7:30-5:30ish! Give or take a half hour. Such a GREAT sleeper! Hate me ;) When he wakes up then, he nurses and goes back to sleep right away and usually sleeps until around 8:30am.

*At 8weeks exactly he's really started talking and discovering his voice. He's cooed before, but now everything and everyone gets him cooing. (Is there anything more precious?)

*We "retired" most of his newborn clothes at 7weeks, still a few he fits into. But he's mostly in 0-3months. It was a hard day packing away his littlest outfits. At 6 weeks we moved him to size 1 diapers! He's growing like a weed.

Things he loves:
*Sitting up
*Getting his butt patted, especially when he's tired
*Mobiles! He LOVES them. Loves the music, loves watching they different, and loves to talks to them.
*Being swaddled.
*Sleeping in the swing for naps & before we go to bed
*Playmat
*His big brother! (Totally starts smiling and cooing every time Dominic is around.)

Things he hates:
*Bottles

Eating:
Still nursing! (Even though I eb for a year, I still  feel it's an accomplishment to get this far) Thankfully, nursing is going really good!  He eats just about every 3-4 hours during the day for about 10-15mins. I pump just in the morning and store that milk. Let the stock piling begin! Unfortunately, Giovanni is starting to resist the bottle.Ugh..I was determined not to have this happen again. And I feel like there is still time to fix it..we are trying to give him a bottle a day just to get him used to it again...so far..semi successful. He'll take maybe an oz before loosing it.

Let me just say that nursing with a young toddler was VERY hard at the beginning but is so much easier now. It's all about keeping them occupied. We sing songs, watch his youtube learning videos, read, count, anything that will keep him out of trouble or seeking unnecessary attention.

Speaking of brother..Dominic is doing great with Giovanni. It was a tough adjustment at the beginning, because he was such a mamas boy. But now a lot less acting out and a lot more love. He is starting to get so cute with G. He gives him kisses and hugs. And he'll go up to him and talk to him or give him little toys. Adorable. He really loves him.

Now for some pictures.. (Getting their pictures taken this weekend can't wait!)

Table for 4 please!

I have never remembered regularly eating at the dinning room table. My family just never did. Of course on holidays and "those" special occasions, but hardly ever.

So, when Tony and I got married I was determined to be that picture perfect family and sit around the table and eat every night and converse about our day. 3 years later... never happened. I guess we were just tv tray type of people..(Which is really sad, considering our dinning room & living room are in one big room!) But now that we have two little boys, my views have changed. I'm now more than ever determined to dust of our table, turn off the tv and put it to use. We have now been going at it for a full week..and I can honestly say, why the heck haven't we done this before???? It's so nice to turn our cell phones and truly enjoy the conversation and the food!

Meet the Family

Welcome to my life! I'm starting this blog for a number of reasons..mainly to keep track of our life, because frankly, with two kids 15 months apart..I forget a lot! lol. So here's where we start...

<----I'm Rachel, 26 years young. (Not the best picture, but let's face it, when your a mom, you spend most of our time taking pictures of your family..and not so much your self.) I am blessed to be a stay at home wife & mom to two amazing little boys! I LOVE capturing moments with pictures..you'll pretty much never see me with out a camera..that's not to say I take pictures of everything..I like to enjoy the moments too..but if the moments right..but I'm just an amateur still learning the ropes with my new camera :)

This is my husband Tony, almost 29. He is a hard working provider and the best dad. ------------>

So here's the low done on how we met. We met at our church youth group, when I 15, he was just a couple days away from being 18. We started out as friends..then he finally made the move and asked me out! After 4 years of dating (we were young and still in school) he popped the question and of Course I said YES! And we lived happily ever after...

Well not exactly.... We've had a few bumps along the way...not the normal "relationship" bumps. In September 2006, We were involved in a car accident that nearly left me paralyzed. Thank you God. It took me a long time to recover from my injuries, but he was right by my side. When you are in that situation, you really look at life and the people around you differently. I am so thankful for him. I may touch on this later, because through the experience I learned how awesome our God is!

On November 17, 2009 we tied the knot and had the most beautiful wedding! It was truly the best day of my life!

From the moment we said "I do"....It was like my biological clock started ticking...well not that soon...but close. So we hopped to it and "tried" to have a baby.....but It didn't happen....after several months...we learned that PCOS was affecting our fertility. It was a grueling 15months...we had just "signed on" with a reproductive specialist and began a slew of tests...and then God, blessed us with a positive test!

Nine months later we were blessed with our little miracle Dominic Anthony, born at 3:49pm on November 29, 2009.The labor & delivery wasn't perfect, but he sure was. All 7lbs 11oz & 19 1/2ins of him. He was due on Thanksgiving, our little Turkey, but he came 3 days later...He stayed in long enough for his mama to enjoy good cookin' and lots of black friday shopping (yep...I went to 5 stores and it sent me into labor!)

He is now 17 months old 22lbs 3oz & 31ins...(Seriously, how did that happen?!!) He is a ball full of adorable energy! From a newborn on...we new he was on the go! He rolled over at 6weeks..crawled at 6months on the day..pulled up to a stand a week later! By the end of his 8th month he was already taking steps..and by almost 10 months he was on the go everywhere! He has the cutest expressions and is now talking up a storm! I love this age, everyday he's doing or saying something new! He is such an amazing little guy!

When he was 7 months....my husband kept teasing me that I was pregnant again...being that it took us so long to get pregnant the first time and we were by NO means trying to conceive I just laughed and blew it off...After several days of him telling me I was..we sat down and watched the show, "I didn't know I was pregnant"...I got nervous, what if he was right? So I had him go out and buy a pregnancy test..the next morning we got the biggest shock (and Blessing) of our lives! On July 8th, we got a positive pregnancy test! Went to the doctor and confirmed..We were pregnant and Due March 2oth. This is how we announced it, with a big brother hat too..."Pink or Blue, either will do, because Mommy's expecting #2!!"

Needless to say it was a surprise to everyone! A much welcomed surprise!! The boys are only 15 1/2 months apart. It is definitely an exciting adventure!

On November 2, 2010 we confirmed we were having another little boy! It was so exciting finding out Dominic would have a brother! Coming up with a name, however, was not so exciting. We just couldn't agree on one. But once we saw him face to face, we FINALLY were able to give him a name.

On March 16, 2011 we welcomed into our arms, Giovanni James born via repeat c-section on 12:50pm. Weighing in at 7lbs 10oz and 20in long. Absolutely perfect!!

It's been a BIG adjustment, but what a blessing these past 7 weeks have been.

So here we are now, a newly family of four! Feel free to join us in this new adventure & my ramblings as a housewife, stay at home mom of 2 under 2, still learning to cook, picture obsessed, Christian woman.
