Date Night...Not like it used to be

When we got married, one of the nice, unsolicited advice we received, was actually quite helpful. Have regular date nights. Being that we had no children, we found this a tad absurd, since every night was like a date night. However, we took that advice and set time aside once a week. It is such a great idea for all couples.

^Now early in our marriage (before kids) we were all about going out. We made it a big deal too.  Movies, dinner, miniature golf, the symphony, etc. Oh that was the life. ;)  It was a time when I actually had time to fix my hair and put on makeup. Heck it was a time I wanted to fix my hair and put on makeup. Not to mention we had the money to spare.

Then, we were blessed with the most amazing gift, our boys..And like most parents we were completely over whelmed with love for our new babies, that time alone together went on the back burner.  Now that we have two amazing little kiddos (15months apart) we have realized the dire need for time alone...mainly to keep our sanity.

However, our littlest one, Giovanni, completely refuses the bottle, just like his brother did. How nice. So where I go, he goes. And after the day I had last Friday, I told Tony, kids or not, we're going out!


We loaded up the car with kids, pjs, lawn chairs, a pack-in-play, a boppy pillow, snacks and NO sanity and decided to head to the drive-in!

 And it was the best decision ever! Sure it was hectic and we got crazy looks, but it was date night. Kids and all.


They were both asleep by the second movie, so we got to enjoy some adult conversation and recharge our marriage.  :)

Happy Father's Day!

 
Happy Father's Day to my amazing husband, a man who isn't afraid of changing a dirty diaper or singing a lullaby's to our baby. He works hard  for our family then comes home and plays harder. 

And Happy Father's Day to my dad who was the best daddy a kid could ever ask for. He knew how to make me feel beautiful inside and out. He's taught me so much and loved me through it all! Not to mention, he is the the best Paw-Paw to his grand kids!

 I was having a real hard time thinking what the kids could get Tony this year. It's his birthday Friday, so I wanted to do something sentimental, as opposed to something that he would forget in 5 years.

I picked him out a recordable message card, and it took me next to forever, but I recorded Dominic saying, "I Love You"! That alone was probably the best thing ever.
 And for the gift?



 We spent the morning at church, then spent time with my parents.My dad is so great with our boys. Dominic just lights up around him.





And later, we went to the Macaroni Grill in St. Louis. (And oh my gosh, that place has amazing food! And the price wasn't over the top either.) Followed by a quite evening relaxing at home. It was an end to a pretty good weekend.

Giovanni turns 3 Months!

Stats:
Weight: 12lbs 6oz 
Height: 23ins  

Our little guy is growing right along. I can not believe he is already 13weeks old! It's going by way too fast. He wears 0-3month clothes and size 1 diaper. He is still sleeping amazing. He takes at least 3 good naps a day. At least one being 3 hours. He also sleeps great at night, although we have had a few nights when he woke up to eat around 4 and we have had trouble getting him back to sleep, but over all he sleeps 9-12hours a night.

He loves to blow bubbles. Not sure if he was doing this last month or not, but he does it constantly now. And he has started drooling all over the place. I guess I will need to break out some bibs soon.


MILESTONES:
*He reaches and grabs at toys. And he holds onto rattles for short periods of time.

*He's noticed his feet. He stares at them, but hasn't really tried to grab them.

*He rolled over! At 12 weeks, Giovanni rolled over from his belly to back. And now does it just about every time he's on his belly.


His Favorite Things:
*Laying in the Boppy Pillow
*Standing up
*Bumpo Chair
*Gumdrop or Soothie Paci's (mainly when tired)
*Swing (Awake or asleep now)
*His Pack-N-Play Play mat
*Baby Einstein Videos

Things he hates:
*Bottles  
*Poopy Pants (Don't blame him)

Eating:
Giovanni eats like a champ. Nursing's going great. I feed him on demand, but he eats pretty much on schedule which is about every 3-4 hours. He eats more in the morning and spaces the feedings our more toward bedtime. Which is opposite of normal, but he's growing so I'm not worried. He feeds for about 10-15minutes each feed. Still refuses the bottle and at this point, but we haven't tried much this last month. And I'm OK with that. But I'm still having to pump every morning though, blah. Our freezer is getting full!

A lot of people say they look a like. To me, Giovanni looks like his own little person, but has some features that resemble his big brother. I guess when I remember Dominic, I remember his curls and dimple. Haha.. Either way, I'm inlove with this little guy and I enjoy watching him grow and change everyday.

4. BabySteals & KidSteals:  They sell products from one hot brand each day at 50%-80% off until it sells out. They do one steal a day starting at 9am and when it's gone, it's gone. But you have to act fast, because they sell out quick and if you hesitate, you'll lose out.

Giovanni's Dedication

This past Sunday was a very important day for our family. We dedicated Giovanni to God. For those who aren't familiar with Baby Dedication, it's a time to publicly present our baby to God, our church & family and make a commitment that we will raise him in a Christian home and follow biblical principles.

Our prayer for our Giovanni,

"I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord's holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge - that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God." Ephesians 3:17b-19

Amen
 

After a meaningful dedication & church service, we came back to our house and had a big barbecue with our whole family! Tony's mom side was in from Branson, including Tony's grandma (I just love her!),  to attend his mom's retirement party and Giovanni's dedication, so it was our house was very full, with 31people! It was a day filled with so many memories.

 Did I mention I just love her? She is such an amazing lady! Even though she has 10 kids and a ton of grandkids, great grandkids, she loves and cares for each one of them! I am so thankful, that our kids have family that love them so much!

Goodbye Cats and Hello Playroom!

Well It's official we are now an animal free home!

     Max is the Black cat and Dexter the grey mufti-colored.

It's a very bittersweet moment in our home. We loved our two cats (Max & Dexter) very much. Tony and I got them right after we were married and they really were apart of the family. We just couldn't give them all the attention they needed anymore, plus we needed the extra space. We placed and ad on craigslist, and when a call came in on Sunday about taking both cats, we knew this was the perfect family!

Poor Dominic is confused though. He keeps going to the cat door and yells, "Kitty, kitty..where are you?" It's so sad..But..as one door closes another one opens! We are transforming the old cat room..aka the sun room..into a playroom for the boys!

Not a huge room, but more space nonetheless.  It's the perfect size for a toy room. Let the designing begin!
