Wordy Wednesday

I went to the court house to pay my ticket today, which I thought was late. (If you have no idea what I'm talking about, you can read about it here.) I found out quickly, that I actually had to make a court appearance. Nice. Apperently, I missed the little box that was checked that stated this. Great way to start the day. <Insert eye roll> So, there I sat with 50-60 other "criminals," awaiting to see a judge.

I waited patiently for over a half hour. I had my $120 check in hand, ready to confess how sorry I am. Unfortunately,  I really should have read the back of that ticket. It was finally my turn and I learn that I actually owe $175 and I get to be on court supervision for 3 months. All for an expired license.  Seriously! It would have been cheaper, if I was caught speeding. I'm thinking about selling a kidney, any takers?

The best part of all of this was the breakdown of where the money went. Take a look. My actual "fine" was only $14.37! Glad to see my money at work.

Look to the Past: Baby Showers

Today, I'm linking up with Kelly's Korner. This week's topic is Show us your baby shower ideas. Well, I thought this would be a great way to blog about my baby showers that have come and went. Because, let's face it, when else would I have an opportunity to?

I was blessed to have two absolutely amazing baby showers with my first; one hosted my my mother & close friends and one hosted by our church family.
A picture of Tony & I and his family

My first Baby shower was at the church I grew up at, that a lone made it special.  It was such a nasty raining day, yet we still had an amazing turn out. Even Tony's oldest sister and cousin came up from Arkansas to come, it was a wonderful surprise.

Table decorations and favors.
The first was decorated so beautiful with pastel colors, mostly blue and teddy bears. Tony proposed to me with a build-a-bear, so bears have special meaning to me.  We had some amazing food, made by family and close friends.  A yummy cake and cupcakes made by my momma. She is such a great party planner. For favors, we had candy sticks that said, "it's a boy;" a little baby bottle, filled with candies; feet cookies tucked in a napkin diaper! We played several different games.

1. Baby gift bingo- Guest were given a sheet of paper, with a blank bingo grid on it. They were instructed to fill in items they think I will receive as gifts. As I open the gifts, they would cross them off accordingly, until a bingo was called.

2. Draw the baby face- Guests were given a piece of paper with an outline of a baby face. They were instructed to draw a picture of what they think our baby would look like. Then I pick my favorite out of the bunch.

3. Baby Story- This was a favorite. Each table was given a little string with plastic diaper pins on them. My mom read a little "baby story," she mad up. Every time the word baby was said, guest had to pass the safety pins to the next person. Last one holding the pins won.

4. Count the cotton balls- A giant plastic baby bottle, that was filled with cotton balls were passed around the room. Guest were told to give an estimate on how many were in there.

The tables and desert.

My mama & I
The second baby shower I had was hosted by our awesome church family. Our nursery theme was Jungle, particularly monkeys. They had remembered me talking about that and decided to run with a Monkey theme. And it was sooooo cute!

The decorated with balloons with monkey stickers, with bananas as the weight. How cute is that? A friend made these little adorable paper booties to hold candy as favors. Another friend made two amazing cakes; a monkey and a baby carriage. So cute. We also played a couple of games, one being the baby bingo game.

Give the baby a trait- Guest were given a piece of paper with a list of traits. They had to guess whether or not I wanted the baby to have a trait after me or my husband. Then I would give my answers and the one with the most correct, got a prize.

Seriously, how cute are these cakes?

Both showers were so much fun. We received so many wonderful gifts; both handmade and new. These are some special creations that some of our dear friends made for us. How cool is the diaper wreath? Never saw one before. We were truly blessed to get some amazing gifts and a lifetime of memories. Thanks for looking back with me.

Thankful Thursday!

It's Thursday, I'm thankful, so why not!

This week I am so thankful for HOT water!! And water from pipes in general.

Pic from google.
We have been without hot water for a while now, for a number of reasons. Our water heater broke a while back. Being, um..cheep, "we"my husband, purchased a lemon noneffective water heater off of Craigslist, which ended up needing to be replaced too. <isn't home ownership grand?> So, we finally had to break done and purchase a new one. Unfortunately before doing so, our house got broken into. So that money got shifted to some needed security measures. But finally after nearly 3, yes 3 loooooonnnnnnggg months. The insurance money came in, the water heater was purchased, and our house is now equipped with hot water!

You couldn't possibly imagine the excitement I feel! It's glorious!! I no longer having to spend countless hours boiling water just to make dinner wash dishes, bathes, clean, etc. I can turn the faucet and instead of a dribble, I get a full stream of beautiful steamy heated water! Ha ha. It's so simple, yet we often take it for granted. So, yes, today I am very thankful for being able to have such "amenities."

I bet there's at least one thing you're thankful for this week. Go ahead and post about it and share it here and here.

Weekends to Remember

With all the running around the last couple of weeks, we decided to take advantage of some fun things for the kids this weekend. Last Friday was “family free night” at our local Magic House. It happens every 3rd Friday of the month.  I love this. It normally cost $8.75 a person 1 year old & up, so that would have cost us $26.25, but we got in for free! Hello savings!
The boy is strong. This was his 2nd time holding on, and this time he held on for 18 seconds! Not bad for a 20month old.

Nothing is more exciting then the "Static ball" at the magic house, always a favorite. I especially love, Little G's little hairs all standing up! Ha.Ha.
Love these blocks.

Saturday it was such a rainy day and we didn’t have any plans so we decided to check out the Science Center. The boys had never been and it’s free, so why not, right? They have a room dedicated to small kids, with all hands on activities. To say Dominic had fun is an understatement.

Looking at the cars passing by.

The look of concentration. This was one of his favorites.
Learning about bugs! The joys of having little boys!

Dressing like a Native American to learn how they lived.

Giovanni's two favorite things; the fish tank and the stuffed caterpillar.
 Meeting "Rex"
Sunday was a quiet day. We went to church, had lunch with Tony's mom, and relaxed at home. The perfect end to a great weekend!

Ever have this kind of day?

"Stop climbing in your brothers' crib * Put that down * Take it out of your mouth * Don't stand on that *Inside voice * No yelling! * Leave your brother alone * Don't throw that * Get down * Give your brother space * Where did you get that? * No * Out of the bassinet * Eat your lunch * Say Please * Don't dump your milk * Be nice to your brother * NO! * Stop climbing * Because I said so * <sigh> I love you too Dominic."

I thankful for days like above, because despite all the orneriness, these little miracles are the most rewarding blessings I've been given.

Happy 5 months Giovanni!

Weight: 14lbs 15oz
Height: Around 25ins.

Our happy little boy turned 5 months yesterday. 5 MONTHS! Crazy.  He is such a sweet little guy. He's really grown "up" this past month. He's now in 3-6 month clothes and wears a size 2 diaper. We've had a few issues with him sleeping, but thankfully, unswaddling him has seem to fix that. He goes to bed around 7pm, wakes for milk around 2-3 and goes back to sleep right away until around 6:30-7. He's still sleeping in the bassinet next to our bed, but takes naps in his swing. He takes two good naps during the day and sometimes sneaks in a cat nap.

He loves to play with rattles and teethers..or anything else his little fingers can reach. Seriously, he wants it he will get to it.  He's pretty much done with bouncy seats. It's become to dangerous. He sits up in them and he tries to roll over. I'm too afraid he's going to fall out of them. Not cool. But he LOVES being on his tummy, looking around and watching his big brother play.

He's overall a really easy happy baby..that is unless I'm not around. Then he may turn into a screamer. He is going through a little bit of separation anxiety right now, or as my husband refers to it, "not the mama syndrome." Ha.

-He can sit up now! At 4 months and 1 week, we sat him down and he sat there all by himself! He can sit by himself for a good amount of time now. Still wobbly, so we place the boppy pillow around him or stay close by.

-First Word: MA-MA!! Monday, he started making sound noises. (Da, Ma, Ba)

-Scooting. If he's on the floor and sees something he wants. He will get to it.

-Sucks on his toes. Yum.

Paci's (Goodbye)

We still haven't tried solids yet. He still seems perfectly satisfied with mommy's milk. We will try starting that next month. He does however take a bottle for me now. Key word being "me". But hey it's something!

Now for his monthly tie pictures:

 Such a happy boy!

And for the comparison pictures:

Here's one of both boys at 5 months:

Dominic, Giovanni. You can definitely tell they are brothers, but I don't think they look as much alike anymore, but I'm the mama. ;o) What do you think?

Here are Giovanni's 4month, 3month, and 2month updates.

Wordless Wednesday- First Dunk

My son had a milk allergy and couldn't experience the sweet life of an Oreo and a cup of milk.  Since his milk allergy is a thing of the past. My husband couldn't wait to teach him how to properly dunk an Oreo. :)

Just Another Beautiful Day

Sunday was such a gorgeous day. High of only 81! Beats the 100 degree temps we've been having. So we turned it into an impromptu family day. After church we headed to our favorite park and had a picnic lunch. Then we fed the ducks, and let Dominic play until his heart's content. It was an absolutely beautiful day! The perfect way to end a busy weekend.
He's a proud little guy, going down the big slide all by himself!
Giovanni's favorite ride. Gotta love the moby wrap!
The geese surrounded us on all sides..
They could smell the stale bread on us. Ha.

First time Dominic fed the geese, where he didn't eat the bread. ;)
Gorgeous blue skies and a cool breeze.

*If you noticed some black spots on a couple of the pictures, that would be some bread stuck to the lens. I failed to notice for a while.. Oops. But hey, that's life.
