Goodbye Old Faithful...Hello Big Beast!

This weekend I said my goodbyes to my very first DSLR camera, a Pentax K-X and welcomed in a new member.

Goodbye Old Faithful.

And hello BIG BEAST!

This bad boy is a Nikon D7000!

Talk about an upgrade!
It blows my old pictures away, just in auto!

Here's a couple test shots from a birthday party we went to on a farm. These were on auto and no editing! I'm in love! It's a bit of a difference going from Pentax to Nikon, but I can say I'm glad I made the switch. I can already tell this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship! ;)

  2. You will not regret making the move from Pentax to Nikon.......I love my Nikon and am soon to be upgrading myself from my starter D40 which I have had for years and years to the totally awesome D90.

I persuaded my Dad to swap from Pentax to Nikon as well and he has just bought himself a D5100 which he seems to be loving.. He was originally going to go the EOS route, but when I told him that my hubby has an EOS 50D and that it takes photos, nowhere near the quality of my D40 that was all the persuasion he needed!

My daughter just graduated from Uni and we have bought her a Nikon 1, V1 which is the mirrorless half-breed as I like to call it - Not a point and shoot but not a quite a DSLR either...it has interchangeable lenses and is totally silent which means you can use it in situations where the DSLR whirl is not acceptable - It only arrived yesterday, so she is only just starting to get to grips with it, but the photos she has taken so far are just amazing, ad because it is silent, she was able to get the most amazing shots of the Humingbirds at the feeder on the front porch because they weren't scared by the noise.

  3. Another Nikon lover here! I bought a D5000 3 years ago and I love it! I highly recommend investing in some additional lenses; the kit lens (the one your camera came with) can only do so much. I have a zoom lens which is great but the lens I use the most is my prime lens. It allows me to take pictures in very low light w/o using my flash. I don't know if you follow my photography blog in addition to our family blog...it's www.leighleestudios.blogspot.com. can't wait to see all the great pictures!

    1. Oh I LOVE Nikon. I totally agree about the lens. I just got a Nikon 50mm f/1.8G AF-S lens this weekend. I'm pretty excited about it. I'm no photographer by any means, but I do enjoy taking pictures. :P
